Apple and cinnamon put a cold weather spin on this classic cocktail. Mules are normally served in a copper mug, but any glassware you have on hand works well.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces ginger-flavored vodka

  • 2 ounces apple cider (store-bought or homemade)
  • Juice of 1 small lime wedge

  • Good quality ginger beer to top off (about 1⁄2 cup or so)
  • Cinnamon to sprinkle

In a copper mug, add the vodka, apple cider, and lime juice. Fill the glass with ice, sprinkle cinnamon over the ice, then top off with ginger beer. Stir well and garnish with an apple slice and cinnamon stick.

To make your drink last longer, alternate sips with a glass of water or seltzer. And even in the midst of the festive season, it's important to remember moderation and to limit your intake when it comes to alcoholic beverages. That means no more than one drink per day for women, two for men.
